Today in Putin’s Russia, the last statement in politically motivated trials has become a cultural phenomenon and almost an artistic genre. It is almost the only opportunity to express an extensive criticism directly to the face of the authorities.
We would like to acquaint European readers with these texts and their authors – noble people who have been imprisoned in Russia for disloyalty to the current government. Among them are politicians Vladimir Kara-Murza and Ilya Yashin, artist Sasha Skochilenko, schoolboy Yegor Balazeikin and dozens of other people.
The book will be bilingual: the original statement will be printed in Russian; a translation will be printed alongside. We will start with the translation into German and with time will translate the statements into other European languages.
We are planning the first print run of 500 copies and are raising €7500 to finance the work of translators, editors, proofreaders and the printing press.We need your help.
